Why Play in the HVNABA?
Top reasons to play in the Hudson Valley NABA
Largest league and divisions in NY – The HVNABA is the largest 17+ amateur men’s baseball league in NY with a total of 60–80 teams playing, spread out over our Hudson Valley Sunday divisions – Rec A, Rec AA, Rec AAA and Premier. From the Westchester area? No problem, we now have a Westchester Rec and Premier Division for players in that area. Once the spring/summer season is over, we also offer a Fall Division for those looking to continue playing! In 2025, you will see 40 teams in our Sunday Rec Division (LARGEST men’s division in NY), 8 in our HV Premier Division, 5 in our Westchester Premier Division, 6 in our brand-new Westchester Rec Division, and at least 16–24 expected throughout our Fall Divisions! Our 4 levels of play in our Sunday Hudson Valley Divisions and our 2 levels of play in our Westchester Divisions allow for anyone of any skill level to play competitive baseball and not feel overmatched. Looking to play against competition closer to your age? If you are 35+ or 45+ we can point you in the right direction to an affiliate organization we work with if you would prefer to playing on Saturdays or during the week rather than on Sundays.
The most complete adult baseball package anywhere - Our league fee per player ranges from $295 to $325, depending on roster size. In some cases, teams that qualify for league credits by following rules and guidelines have seen per-player fees as low as $240. Your fees cover everything besides personal equipment/uniforms. Could we reduce benefits to lower team costs? Yes, but our teams value the added benefits and the high level of organization and commitment our full-time staff brings to the league.

The difference between what we provide and what other leagues across the country offer for the same price is simply unmatched. Most importantly we have a full-time staff dedicated to assisting with any and all needs promptly. This allows us to prioritize you the managers and players at all times and give you the time and effort you deserve. We take great pride in addressing questions, comments, concerns, and any league-related issues promptly, rather than at our convenience or when time permits.
Rapid growth – It is amazing to look back and see how far we have come as a league and how we have naturally grown over the last 18 years. In 2015, our league only consisted of 10 teams total and our Westchester and Rec Divisions did not even exist. Fast forward 10 years in 2025, we will stand at close to 60 teams total over our Rec A, Rec AA, Rec AAA, Hudson Valley Premier, Westchester Premier and Westchester Rec Divisions!
True Competitive Balance – All of our teams have a shot at winning thanks to our unique division setup based on team skill level! By separating teams into competitive skill levels, it allows for better baseball to be played each and every Sunday. We have had 5 different champions over the last 5 seasons in our Premier Division, while our Rec Divisions have never had the same champion! With our strategy of moving up top teams throughout the Rec Divisions each year, this allows for better competition throughout the entire division, ensuring the same teams don’t win over and over again like other leagues.
Sunday Hudson Valley Premier Division – In 2025, the league’s original and oldest division will boast an impressive 8 teams and will be the most competitive it’s ever been. This division is for the ultimate competitors and is loaded with former college and high school players. There are even some ex-pros mixed in throughout the league.
Sunday Westchester Premier Division – Created due to popular demand, our Westchester Premier Division offers the same competition level as our HV Premier Division, also with 8 teams. This division also contains numerous current and former college players, high school, and some ex-pro players from the Westchester/Putnam area. If you live in the Westchester area and are looking to play with or against some of the top talent around look no further.
Sunday Hudson Valley Recreation Divisions – This division was created in 2016. We wanted to give everyone, no matter their age or skill level, a place to play. This division is for everyone! There are players that haven’t played in 20 years, father-son combinations, or guys that never played at all but just love the game. But there are also players who played high school, which evens out the division and gives it a nice competitive balance. Originally started as one Hudson Valley Rec Division, and now grown to a Rec A, Rec AA, and Rec AAA Division, we are happy to now offer a Westchester Rec Division as well. Since this division has no skill requirement, everyone should make a team if you register early enough. While some leagues may also make this claim, take your money, and put you on a team where you will not play the HVNABA Rec Division is built different. Our Rec A and Rec AA have strict playing time rules to ensure all players that pay WILL PLAY. Nobody imagined that another division we built from the ground up would grow to an amazing 40+ teams (this is the most teams we have ever had in 1 division!). Congrats, guys! You are part of the largest men’s division in all of NY the HVNABA REC DIVISION!
Sunday Westchester Recreation Division – We are thrilled to announce the creation of this brand-new division in 2025, which will feature the same great benefits as its Hudson Valley counterparts. We will start off small with 6 teams but expect the same rapid growth as we have seen in our HV Rec Divisions. The Westchester Rec Division will begin as one division think of it as a combination of our HV Rec A, AA, and AAA Divisions.
Some slight differences between Rec divisions:
Rec A Division – 7-inning games. NO current or former college players allowed. Strict playing time rules.
Rec AA Division – 9-inning games. NO current or former college players allowed. Strict playing time rules.
Rec AAA Division – 9-inning games. 1 D3 or Community College position player allowed per team.
Westchester Rec Division – 7-inning games. 1 D3 or Community College position player allowed per team. Strict playing time rules.
League president may make a rare exception in our Rec AA or Rec AAA due to various reasons, including but not limited to age, diminishing skills, proven ability in an already existing HVNABA division, etc.
Community – We are proud to give back to the community we play in. In the past, we have gladly raised money and donated to the 3 Up 3 Down charity, Wappingers Falls Little League, Hudson Valley Special Olympics, American Cancer Society, the NYPD Widows and Children’s Fund to name a few. Have an idea for us? Send it to hvnabaoperations@gmail.com
Champions treated like Champions – All HVNABA Championship games are played at professional stadiums with scoreboard and announcer as they should be! This is all included in your league fees. While the costs to play at these venues continue to rise, we feel that playing the most important games of the year anywhere else would be a disservice to all of the players that worked all offseason and during the season to make it to the last game(s) of the year. Hudson Valley Championship games are normally played at Dutchess Stadium / Heritage Financial Park. Westchester Championship games are played at Clover Stadium! Our Spring/Summer Championship teams are presented with a beautiful crystal trophy and championship t-shirts!
Teams are rewarded for following the rules – We have had this program in place since 2009 and it’s been one of the most popular features around the league. Teams that follow the rules, enter their box scores on time, and have no infractions come the end of the year are rewarded with a credit the following season! We have given back over $75,000 using this program, some teams have gotten as much as a $900 credit for the next season just for following the rules!
Highest Quality Everything – We spend top dollar on our baseballs (Wilson 1010HS1), play on the nicest fields in the area, and have the best umpires available to us!
Competitive baseball – The HVNABA has a high level of competition thanks to all of our different skill levels. Players can feel comfortable knowing they will be competing each and every Sunday against mostly other players of similar skill levels. If you feel you are overmatched or you are above the talent level you are playing against, reach out to us and we will attempt to place you in a division either higher or lower that better fits your competition level.
Trip to Cooperstown NY to play at Doubleday Field – For the past 10+ years, the HVNABA has been happy to send dozens of interested teams to Cooperstown to play at the historic Doubleday Field. The best part about this is you will play actual league games there in an amazing atmosphere! The only cost you pay is for the stadium rental and umpires.
Heritage Financial Park (Dutchess Stadium) and Clover Stadium games – Not only do we make sure EVERY Championship game and All-Star game is played at the stadium, we also play regular season games there as well! Our league has evolved over the last 15+ years. Originally, a regular season stadium game was mandatory for all teams and included in all teams’ league fees. However due to rising costs of the stadium any regular season stadium games are now optional. We have removed the mandatory fee to play at the stadium and now give our teams the flexibility to choose to pay extra to play at a stadium or save the money and keep their costs down. This has helped offset the umpire and field costs rising almost on a yearly basis. That being said, our league has still played more games at local stadiums than any other league across the country. Since 2007 our players have played over 500 games at local professional stadiums.
Enhanced All-Star Weekend – Each year we have multiple All-Star games. We have played the CBL, NYPD, and interleague games. Our HV Premier and HV Recreation will play their All-Star games at Heritage Financial Park, while our Westchester Recreation Division will play theirs at Clover Stadium this year. The Westchester Premier Division has elected to cut costs and play their All-Star game at a different venue this year.
Local and National Tournaments – We are happy to be a part of the NABA. Last year, we sent numerous teams to their tournaments all across the country.
Yearly Home Run Derby – Debuting in 2008 our HR derby has become one of our most popular events. Our derby winner always walks away with a cash prize. Due to scheduling conflicts, we have been unable to host this event the last few seasons. In 2025, we will see the return of the derby after a 5-year hiatus. Our derby is normally at a field with friendly dimensions so our guys can put on a show!
In closing, our continued success and unmatched growth is a direct result of everyone’s hard work and love for the game of baseball into adulthood. One of the main reasons for our success is our full-time president and staff, who are focused on continuing to improve our league and providing the most competitive amateur baseball package in the country. In 2025 and going forward, we will do what we do best: concentrate on growing our league naturally, playing competitive baseball games, while offering you the players the most complete amateur baseball package available in NY. Hope to see all of you on the field very soon!
